Untamed Caprivi – Namibia Wetlands & Wilderness, 12 nights

Our Untamed Caprivi, Namibia Wetlands & Wilderness is a 12-night self-drive adventure through Namibia’s lush, wildlife-rich north-east, where rivers, floodplains, and untamed landscapes meet. Starting in Windhoek with a night at The Weinberg, you’ll journey north to Otjiwa Savannah Villa for two nights in tranquil bushveld, then continue to Onguma Trails Camp for two nights exploring the private Onguma Reserve on the edge of Etosha. From there, travel to Hakusembe River Lodge on the Okavango River for a night, followed by two nights at Divava Okavango Resort near the scenic Popa Falls. Next, immerse yourself in Bwabwata National Park with two nights at Nambwa Tented Lodge, before ending with two nights at Nkasa Linyanti in a remote wetland paradise, concluding in Katima Mulilo for your onward flight, the perfect blend of self-drive freedom and the wild beauty of Namibia’s Caprivi.

Day 1

Welcome to Namibia! You will be met in the arrivals hall of Windhoek Hosea Kutako Airport by one of our chauffeur drivers who will transfer you into town in an ATI luxury vehicle. After taking some time to shower, relax (and maybe have a quick nap), your hire car will be delivered to your guest house or hotel around 4pm. If you’re landing late in the day, it will be delivered around 8am the following morning. One of our representatives will meet you at the same time to offer a thorough briefing of your whole holiday and go through your marked road map, vouchers, and itinerary with you. We’re also on hand to book a restaurant for tonight, should we not have already done so.

Day 2 – 3

After breakfast you will set off on your self-drive journey to the next destination, Otjiwa Nature Reserve, following our detailed road directions and map. During your briefing we will have shown you the best places to stop off for lunch or a break, as well as any highlights which are worth visiting along the way. As part of your fully inclusive package stay at the Villa, you’ll be able to take part in 2  activities per day.

Day 4 – 5

Today you will drive onwards to the Onguma Reserve bordering Etosha National Park, Namibia’s prime wildlife area.  You will travel through the towns of Otjiwarongo and Tsumeb which both offer opportunities for lunch or a quick break.  During your time at the Trails Camp you can enjoy walking trails in Onguma’s pristine wilderness, spotting four of the big five on foot, sundowners and stargazing.

Day 6

After an exciting two days in the Onguma Reserve, you will leave Etosha behind and set off on your drive northwards. You will drive past roadside villages to the town of Rundu on the Kavango River. There are a handful of beautiful lodges overlooking the river, situated outside the hustle and bustle of Rundu.

Day 7 – 8

Make your way further east today, driving along what used to be called the Caprivi Strip and is now known as the Zambezi Region of Namibia. Divava Okavango Resort is a hidden paradise on the banks of the Okavango River. During your two nights here you can relax or take part in optional activities including sunrise or sunset boat cruises, game drives into  Buffalo National Park or village visits.

Day 9 – 10

From Divava Okavango Resort, your journey continues through the landscapes of the Caprivi, heading towards Kongola. A short distance after Kongola, you’ll turn off towards the inspiring Sijwa Project, an award-winning sustainability and community initiative run by African Monarch Lodges. This remarkable project focuses on wildlife conservation, environmental education, and empowering local communities through eco-friendly enterprises such as aquaponics, upcycling, and beekeeping. You will then step aboard a river cruise that will take you through the channels of the Kwando River, delivering you directly to Nambwa Tented Lodge, nestled deep within the Bwabwata National Park.

Day 11 – 12

After returning to your parked vehicle, you’ll resume your journey through the Caprivi Strip, making your way to Nkasa Linyanti Lodge. Set within a pristine wetland paradise in Namibia’s Zambezi Region, this area, once known as Mamili, was recently renamed Nkasa Rupala National Park. Renowned for its lush floodplains, winding waterways, and abundant wildlife, the park offers a truly unique wilderness experience, often likened to Botswana’s Okavango Delta but with far fewer visitors.

Day 13
