Wild at Heart Privately Guided Safari, 11 nights

Our ‘Wild at Heart’ privately guided safari is designed to encompass Namibia’s iconic highlights whilst offering the peace of mind and comfort of an experienced and knowledgeable private guide. Including a luxury vehicle (generally a leather interior Ford Everest 4×4), perfect for wildlife and landscape viewing in our rugged terrain, this adventure starts & ends in Windhoek and includes, Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Twyfelfontein & Damaraland, Etosha National Park, and Okonjima/ AfriCat.

Day 1

You will be met in the arrivals hall of Windhoek Hosea Kutako Airport by one of our chauffeur drivers who will transfer you into town in an ATI luxury vehicle. Take some time to shower, relax, and maybe have a quick nap. Your guide will meet you the following morning to offer a briefing of your whole holiday before you depart. We’re also on hand to book a restaurant for tonight, should we not have already done so.

Day 2

Today you will be driven southwards from Windhoek to your overnight destination close to the Namib Naukluft National Park, Sesriem & Sossusvlei. We recommend driving via the amazing Spreetshoogte Pass, stopping for a break at the viewpoint before driving slowly down. Solitaire is the perfect lunch stop with a fuel station, café, shop, and the best apple pie in the Southern Hemisphere. The drive should take you around 5.5 hours excluding stops.

Day 3

Join a professional guided tour to Sossusvlei today to discover this ancient desert landscape. Your guide will escort you to the highlights of this area which may include Dune 45, Deadvlei, Sossusvlei, and Sesriem Canyon depending on your exact schedule.  Scaling ‘Big Daddy’ (one of the highest dunes in the world) is a standard challenge for fitter guests. Enjoy the amazing scenery of the desert, usually departing your lodge before sunrise and returning in time for lunch.

Day 4

Today you will be driven northwards from the Sesriem area to your overnight destination at the coast. Solitaire is the perfect rest stop with a fuel station, café, shop, and the best apple pie in the Southern Hemisphere. You may like to stop briefly in Walvis bay to see the lagoon and look out for flamingos, pelicans, and other birdlife. The drive to Swakopmund should take you around 5.5 hours excluding stops.

Day 5

Enjoy your inclusive kayaking trip today. Your guide will drive you to Walvis Bay and your kayaking guide will then take you on a scenic drive to Pelican Point, to the lighthouse and its’ windblown beauty, from where you will start your kayaking trip along with playful seals, dolphins and other magical sea creatures. En-route to Pelican Point you will take some time out to visit the breath-taking salt mines and view the variety of bird life. After the kayaking, refreshments are served on the beach before the return to Walvis Bay where you will arrive around 12h30/ 13h00.

Day 6 – 7

Today you will be driven north along the coastal road, turning inland at Henties Bay and continuing past the mighty Brandberg Mountain into Damaraland. Perhaps make a detour to visit the seal colony at Cape Cross if time allows. The drive should take you around 4.5 hours excluding stops or detours. On Day 7 enjoy inclusive activities with the lodge, an early morning nature drive in search of the desert elephants, and an afternoon visit to the ancient rock art of Twyfelfontein.

Day 8 – 9

Today you will continue northeastwards from Damaraland to southern Etosha, Namibia’s wildlife highlight. The drive should take you around 4.5 hours excluding stops. On Day 9 you will take a game drive through Etosha with your guide, stopping at the many waterholes along the way. Your guide’s sharp eyes will hopefully spot some exciting wildlife, and they can tell you all about this unique environment.

Day 10

After breakfast you will depart on your journey through Etosha, perhaps stopping at the central Rest Camp of Halali for some lunch and a break. The Park opening and closing times vary depending on sunrise and sunset, and your lodge will be able to advise on the current time. Your guide will allow a whole day for this drive as you will want to make the most of the wildlife viewing. Spend tonight in the beautiful Onguma Reserve.

Day 11

Today you will travel southwards from the eastern side of Etosha to Okonjima. You will travel through the towns of Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo which both offer opportunities for lunch or a quick break. The drive should take you around 4 hours excluding stops. This afternoon you will enjoy an inclusive leopard drive on the Okonjima reserve.

Day 12

You will continue your drive south today, ending at Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport to be dropped off in time to connect with your onward flight.  The drive to the airport from Windhoek city centre takes around 45 minutes, and you will arrive no later than 2.5 hours before your flight departs in order to check in.
