Okonjima Nature Reserve

Okonjima nature reserve is located 50 km south of Otjiwarongo, in the Omboroko Mountains of Namibia. Home to the Africat Foundation, a non-profit organisation for the long-term conservation of Namibia’s large carnivores and other endangered species, Okonjima offers unique carnivore tracking activities using satellite technology and experienced guides.

Okonjima is well known for frequent leopard & brown hyaena sightings, in addition to a wide range of other indigenous wildlife within the 20,000 ha reserve. Since being founded in 1991, AfriCat’s mission has been to make significant contributions to conservation, while trying to ensure the survival of Namibia’s predators in their natural habitat.
