Nkonzi Camp

This is a wild and unpretentious place and our home, Nkonzi Camp, is a charming reflection of this. Here you can immerse yourself in the African wilderness, far from the cares of the modern world. Our safaris are designed for adventurous travellers who seek the thrill of hearing lions roar in the night, deep in one of Africa’s last great wild places. Nkonzi Camp is a tented camp set among grassy plains and ancient forests. To the north, the Luwi River attracts a vast array of wildlife throughout the year. This is one of least-visited but most rewarding game viewing areas in the South Luangwa National Park. With zero light pollution and panoramic views of the Milky Way, Nkonzi Camp is perfectly positioned for stargazing too.

As remote and unspoiled as Nkonzi is, it’s still easily accessible. The South Luangwa main gate is a 45-minute drive south, and Mfuwe International Airport is approximately 1.5 hours by road. Our walking safaris often begin and end at camp, while our game drives can head north, south, east or west into untouched wildlife habitats. We are lucky to be able to visit some very remote areas of the South Luangwa National Park on our all-day expeditions. These are areas of totally unspoiled wilderness that few people ever reach where we have only Zambia’s incredible animal and bird life for company. For guests traveling by road, our small office near the park entrance offers secure parking for the duration of your stay.
