Hermanus is a small coastal town located on Garden Route, southeast of Cape Town. It is famous as one of the best places for land-based whale watching which is usually best between June and November, with the most whales congregating here to breed in late September/ early October. Species found in this area include Southern Right whales, Humpback, and Brydes. Beaches include Voëlklip Beach and the broad Grotto Beach, overlooking Walker Bay. As well as the whales, guests can browse the curio shops and markets, or hike in the beautiful fynbos of the Fernkloof Nature Reserve.
